Glenkerry Co-operative Housing Association (GCHA) is a non-profit business created to provide a bridge between social housing and the open property market. Each applicant wishing to buy into Glenkerry House has to establish that they are in sufficient housing need according to our criteria; they will also be assessed to ensure that they have enough money to afford the costs of purchase and running/maintaining a property here as well as a positive commitment to our style of living.

Acceptance criteria

Finance

Having income that is sufficient to meet all the monthly running costs of a property here in Glenkerry, including an increasing service charge; it is important that you will be able to afford to live in Glenkerry House, and the Association requires applicants to prove that during interview, if selected.

N.B. In the current financial climate mortgages have been hard to obtain. However, if you are able to source other avenues of finance you are still welcome to apply.

Need

Being in housing need, where any joint applications by non-related persons over the age of 18 must be “joint and several”, i.e. that they are all named leaseholders and individual shareholders.

Commitment

Being committed to the principle of co-operative housing and to contribute to the running of the Association using relevant skills in a positive and timely fashion.

Owning other property

Applicants cannot own another property (or properties) and live in Glenkerry House.

Pets

The Association does not permit the keeping of pets.
